The Penn State Addiction Center for Translation is accepting abstracts for consideration as poster and oral presentations at the center's fifth annual Penn State Addiction Symposium. Send a 250-word abstract, complete with title, author(s), affiliations and the presenter's email address, to PSACT@pennstatehealth.psu.edu. The symposium program will feature the abstracts. Presentations will be selected according to merit and relevance. The deadline is Oct. 14.
The fifth annual Penn State Addiction Symposium will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Junker Auditorium at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Keynote speakers will be Dr. Yngvild Olsen and Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, authors of “The Opioid Epidemic-What Everyone Needs to Know.” They will present “Applying Science to Clinical Care — What it Really Means to Treat Addiction as a Chronic Illness” at noon. Lunch is provided to those who register.
This year’s featured Penn State faculty speaker will be Yuval Silberman, assistant professor of neural and behavioral sciences, who will present “Stress Neurocircuitry and Addiction Across the Lifespan.”
Faculty members and clinician/scientists will share their current addiction-related research using brief five- to 10-minute data blitz-style presentations. These presentations will show the breadth of preclinical and clinical addiction research going on at Penn State campuses.
The symposium is sponsored by the Penn State Addiction Center for Translation and Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
